IN Memorium

The young guy leaned on the tree looking at the crowd gathered. No one seemed to notice him. It was a small crowd mostly, made up of her immediate family; he could see her mom wiping trying unsuccessfully wiping her tears. Her dad standing their quite and trying to be strong, her little sister who was her sweetheart. There were few of her friends. All praying at her grave.
It was three years ago on the same day she had breathed her last. She was returning from her work and she got hit by a careless driver. She then lived for two days. Two days that’s how long it took him to come back from his trip. He thought she will make it. He hurried from the remote place he was working, the longest two days of his life.
Everyone knew that they were madly in love with each other, only after she died in his arms after two days of struggle did they realize how much she loved him.
It was the end of almost everything in his life as he had it known. He knew his life was not going to be the same again. He knew all his life had drained out of him.
He looked at the gathering as the priest was reciting something about life and death, when he spoke about the souls that enter the heaven because they died for no fault of theirs, the whole bunch was nodding, and then he read about the souls dammed to hell because they have no regard for others and he read about the souls that are condemned to wander for eternity because they have no regard for their own lives. As the priest completed the last sentence her mother broke down and her father grabbed her from fainting.
He was sorry for her.
He was swept by all her memories, all the good times they had. He remembered her last words that she was glad that he had come and how she looked into his eyes before leaving him, he just hoped he could cry now but there were no tears, all the emotions were dry, he was living like a ghost.

He looked one more time at the gathering at the grave of the girl who loved him the most, hoping he could see her one more time.
Then he walked away from there searching for the other woman who loved him as much, probably more.

He went and stood next is mother who was alone crying at his grave.
